Zambezi River Lodge: The Last Stop
Begrudgingly, my mother and I were at our last place on the trip. This was only a couple miles away from Ilala Lodge and still very close to Victoria Falls. This was by far the most beautiful place we stayed at. The rooms were these hearty tents that were placed directly on the Zambezi River generously spaced apart from others giving you a lot of privacy. There was an outside shower which I am always a sucker for, and it rained at one point, so I took a warm shower in the rain which was amazing.
The first day there we were near completely alone. There was only one other set of guests who were in their room, so we did not even see them for hours. We had a delicious lunch then decompressed at our tent for a little bit before we took a sunset river ride. It was the same thing here as Moditlo for the game drives, only they had a river ride you could choose. They provided food such as fresh tomatoes, chicken wings, small ribs on a toothpick among other things and of course your choice of drink. I had been on a gin and tonic kick, so I went with that the first night. It was nice to be on a boat again, and the water was calm with hippos swimming about enjoying themselves. We passed by many other boats with a variety of tourists on them enjoying the various things in and on the water. The sun slowly set making the sky glow with intensely contrasting reds and blues. Killer sunsets, and sunrises in Africa, let me tell you.
