Lake Tahoe
As we were looking at the maps on our phones, we saw quite directly east of us was Lake Tahoe. I have heard of it before but knew absolutely nothing about it or even how I heard of it. I just knew it was a thing and just thought, screw it, let’s go check out a lake. Lakes are cool, and this one definitely was. We drove along the south edge of it through Camp Richardson and eventually into Lake Valley which was a gorgeous little town. The lake is huge and there was plenty to do on the lake. Unfortunately, we didn’t have much time for lake activities. We walked the beach a bit and felt the water, which was cold, no surprise.
After that we went to this second story restaurant and got some food that had a great view of the lake, and you could see a bunch of boats roped together having some type of party. At the restaurant I had some fried cod which is unusual for me because I don’t often order fish while out to eat. But I was in a new place and figured I’d try the local catch and it was worth it. I am not a big cod fan, but I have never had it as fresh as this. It was fried with some type of multi seasoning and it was a delight.
After eating, we walked the beach one more time as the sun set and decided to drive through the night into Nevada.
The Flight Out
Getting out there (while having fun)
We got our bags packed and embarked on the first flight to Atlanta. If you travel often (or even a little) you probably know what a giant and messy airport Atlanta has. Huge terminals that require little shuttle trains to get you around, we made it to our next gate and had three and a half hours until our next flight. So, what do we do? We got drunk. There was a smokers friendly bar that we went to (because he is(?) a smoker, have not seen him in a while) and it was disgusting but I was downing beers like it was nothing so quickly my disgust faded into drunken conversation with a fellow patron and the bartender. Already having a good time and boasting about our spontaneous plan to rent a car in California and just drive it back, I was in a great mood. Cut to the next flight, I put on some recent James Bond movie that I do not remember, because I passed out and woke up in San Francisco.
Road Trip 2016
The Start
This will be a relatively quick one. Me and an old friend of mine were looking at concerts at Red Rocks Amphitheater because we always wanted to go check it out. We looked at dates, acts and just picked one to go out there. When we finally decided on a band and time of year, the question remained how we would get there. Should we drive or fly? An easy thing to figure out really but our imaginations got the better of ourselves and we decided instead of flying directly to Colorado, why not go all the way to California and just drive back?
